Crum WV. is a small town that has a meager population but has a history of producing a lot of talented athletes. The reason for such an immense amount of talent is partly due to the youth growing up, taking athletics more serious because their isn’t much to do in such a small town besides play sports. Basketball ball is king in the area, so when the community seen the things that Jesse “Money” Muncy was doing on the hardwood, they were rightfully excited about the future of their beloved Tolsia Rebels Basketball program.
Even though Tolsia is a small Single-A school they have been some elite talent come out of their community and “Money” Muncy was the first big superstar since Coty Jude. As a freshman Jesse led a very young Rebels team to a 15-10 overall record last season and put himself on everyone’s radar when he drained a game winning “3” over heated rival Tug Valley. The Tolsia fan base was extremely excited about what the future held for the hometown Rebels but at the beginning of Summer things took a drastic change for the worse. Jesse made a LeBron esq. decision and decided to take his talents across the river to Kentucky forming a “Big 3” at Martin County High School with the “Monster in the Middle” Trey James and Ethan Smith-Mills.
Things were looking really good for Jesse at Martin Co., when the Cardinals were clicking, they looked like a team that could compete for a Region title. Just a week ago Jesse had a three game stretch where Martin Co. scored 171 points and 107 of them points belonged to “Money” Muncy but things still didn’t seem right. Jesse seemed like he was a little home sick, this is a kid that was loyal to the Tolsia brand and his friends but just wanted to go compete for a State title, so the move really weighed on the young superstars conscious. It bothered Jesse so much that he has decided to pull another LeBron esq. move and return home so he could try to lead the Rebels to a run at a Class-A State Championship in West Virginia.
Jesse will join a very talented Rebel squad that returns most of their key players from last years team, with the talent Tolsia has coming back they are a dark horse to make the WV State Tournament. This team has great guard play and height all around the court, 11-15 players are 6’0 or taller. Gavin Meadows and Zack Ball are very good players that will continue to flourish with Muncy taking the pressure to score off from them. Then you add veterans like Tyler Johnson, Austin Salmons, Robert Cantrell, and that gives you great players to add to the young talent coming up like Anthony Lovins, Steven Ward and Jesse Muncy. Tolsia won some key games last year including a season sweep over their hated rival Tug Valley, they have one of the best coaching staffs in Southern WV that should lead them to a 20+ wins this upcoming season.
Muncy is a Top 5 scorer in the Mountains and makes Tolsia an instant contender again, this kid took a lot of heat for leaving Tolsia, but has now returned after just a months absence. Jesse is adored in the Tolsia community and even though they was hurt with his move to Martin Co., the Rebel fan base has welcomed him back with open arms. Jesse will end his career as a legendary figure at Tolsia High School and will have rewritten the Rebels record books before he graduates, that’s the level of player Jesse “Money” Muncy is.
