Phelps won 19-4 on Tuesday over Hurley(VA) and started their first winning streak of the season while going 2-0 versus teams from Virginia this season. Phelps got things started in the first inning. Garrett Clevenger drew a walk, scoring one run. Phelps pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning.
In the second Brandon Turnmire drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Phelps Hornets Varsity, an error scored two runs for Phelps, Jordan Blankenship singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Jay Casey singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Phelps notched six runs in the third inning.
Brandon Turnmire, Riley Dotson, Jordan Blankenship, and Jay Casey powered the big inning with RBIs. Seth Elkins was on the mound for Phelps, he went one inning, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out two.
Caleb Dotson came in the second and pitched three innings giving up two hits with five strikeouts and no Earned Runs. Phelps totaled eight hits in the game. Seth Elkins, Jordan Blankenship, and Jay Casey all managed multiple hits for Phelps. Jay Casey, Jordan Blankenship, and Seth Elkins all had two hits to lead Phelps. Riley Dotson led Phelps with three stolen bases followed by Garrett Clevenger, Brandon Turnmire, Seth Elkins had two Stolen Bases each, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.
